On July 17, 2019, Vladimir Stoyanov will appear as the title role of Rigoletto in the premiere of Philipp Stölzl’s new production at the Bregenz Festival conducted by Enrique Mazzola, making his festival debut. Stephen Costello will sing Duca di Mantova, Mélissa Petit Gilda, Miklós Sebestyén Sparafucile and Katrin Wundsam Maddalena. He will sing a total of ten performances with the last one taking place on August 17.
The Bulgarian baritone has sung the role of Rigoletto at among other prestigious theatres and festivals at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, the Macerata Opera Festival, the Teatro Comunale of Bologna and the Maggio Musicale in Florence conducted by Zubin Mehta.
Earlier this year, he performed Iago in a new Robert Wilson staging of Otello in Baden-Baden conducted by Maestro Mehta and following this Rigoletto, he will appear in his role debut as Francesco Foscari in I due Foscari at the Verdi Festival in Parma, as Germont in La traviata at the Teatro La Fenice and as Ernesto in Il pirata at the Teatro Real of Madrid.
