Michael Volle reprises one of his signature roles, the protagonist of Der fliegende Holländer at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dūsseldorf on June 16, 2024, in a new Vasily Barkhatov production led by Axel Kober. He will sing alongside Gabriela Scherer as Senta, Bogdan Taloș as Daland, Jussi Myllys as Erik, Anna Harvey as Mary, and David Fischer as the Steuermann. There will be additional performances on June 21, 12, and 29.

The German baritone is one of the most lauded interpreters of the role of the nameless Dutchman on the international scene, having performed it on the most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, in a new production at the Staatsoper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Zurich Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, not to mention the Bayreuth Festival.
