Sonya Yoncheva ranks among the few select artists to star in a solo concert at the Wiener Staatsoper this season. On October 1, 2024, accompanied on the piano by her frequent collaborator Malcolm Martineau, the Bulgarian soprano will present her well-traveled and highly feted “Ad una Stella” program” a musical journey that – on this occasion – features Giuseppe Martucci’s “Al folto bosco, placida ombria”, some of Giuseppe Verdi’s youthful songs, Francesco Paolo Tosti’s well-known “Ideale” and L’ultimo bacio”, and Giacomo Puccini’s art songs and arias from his operas, including Tosca, Le Villi, Madama Butterfly, and La bohème.  Malcolm Martineau will delight the audience with Isaac Albeniz’s “Tango in D”.

The two artists have been presenting “Ad una stella” to invariable high acclaim on numerous prestigious stages worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, Berlin Philharmonie, Salle Gaveau Paris, Enescu Festival Bucharest, Munich Opera Festival, Palau de les Arts Valencia, Théâtre du Capitol Toulouse, Teatro Real Madrid, Salle Garnier Monte-Carlo, Teatro Cultura Artística, São Paulo, to name but a few.
