MARIANGELA SICILIA TO MAKE HER DEBUT AT THE ARENA VERONA AS MICAËLA IN CARMEN

On June 22, 2018 Mariangela Sicilia will make her Arena Verona debut as Micaëla in a new Hugo De Ana production of Carmen which inaugurates the 96th edition of the famed Festival, under the musical direction of Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa, the first of a series of four performances running through July 11, 2018. She will share the stage with Anna Goryachova and Carmen Topciu alternating in the title role, Brian Jadge and Marcelo Puente as Don José, and Alexander Vinogradov as Escamillo.

“It is thrilling to sing on a prestigious stage such as the Arena of Verona for the opening of the 2018 season”, states the Calabria born soprano. “Micaëla is a role I adore: she is so brave and sweet at the same time. The sets and costumes of this production are simply gorgeous: Maestro Hugo De Ana has done a truly invaluable work, and Maestro Ciampa is a conductor of extreme interpretative sensitivity. We all get such great vibes off stage, we are all very engaged but happy and smiling. And we singers can’t wait to go on stage for our premiere.”

After this Verona Carmen, already announced engagements for Mariangela Sicilia include Adina in L’elisir d’amore at the Macerata Opera and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia.
