ERIKA GRIMALDI | TOSCA | PARMA

Erika Grimaldi will debut at the Teatro Regio Parma this evening as the protagonist of Tosca, in a production by Joseph Franconi Lee (who revived Alberto Fassini’s historical staging) and under the musical direction of Daniel Oren. She will share the stage with Brian Jagde as Cavaradossi and Luca Salsi as Scarpia in the leading roles. There will be an additional performance on May 25.

The Asti-born soprano first sang the role of the Roman diva last February at the Ópera de las Palmas, greeted with such enthusiasm that she had to grant an encore of “Vissi d’arte” and celebrated by the press: Pro Ópera described her “a Tosca of reference in the future,” while Ópera Actual stated that “her Tosca was loaded with drama, with an intense interpretation accompanied by a technically proficient voice, with good projection and attractive timbre.”
