ÉTIENNE DUPUIS | EVGENIJ ONEGIN | VIENNA

Étienne Dupuis returns to the Vienna State Opera with one of his most beloved and performed roles, the titular anti-hero of Evgenij Onegin, on March 14, 18, 22 and 24, 2023. The Dmitri Tcherniakov
production, where he will share the stage with Nicole Car as Tatyana, Iván Ayón Rivas as Lensky, Maria Barakova as Olga, and Dimitry Ivashchenko as Prince Gremin, is conducted by Tomáš Hanus.

This is the fifth role for the Quebecois baritone at the Vienna State Opera, where he has previously appeared as Marcello in La bohème and in new productions of Faust (Valentin), Werther (Albert) and Il barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro).

The cynical and world-weary title character of Eugene Onegin has long been a favorite of Étienne Dupuis, who has sung it – frequently alongside his real-life wife soprano Nicole Car – in some of the most prestigious international theaters and concert halls such as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Opéra de Montréal and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
