ETIENNE DUPUIS | WERTHER | WIENER STAATSOPER

On January 15, 18 and 20, 2022, Etienne Dupuis will appear as Albert in Werther at the Wiener Staatsoper, making his role debut. He will share the stage with Juan Diego Flórez in the title role, Clémentine Margaine as Charlotte and Slávka Zámečníková as Sophie, while Giacomo Sagripanti will conduct. The production is by Andrei Serban.

This is Etienne’s fourth role at the famed Austrian theatre, having previously performed Figaro in a new production of Il barbiere di Siviglia, Valentin in Faust and earlier this month Marcello in La bohème.

The star baritone rehearsed the role of Albert in February 2020 and was supposed to debut it at the Metropolitan Opera when the global pandemic caused the theatre to shut its doors and cancel the production. In November 2020, he made his title role debut in the baritone version of the piece in a one-off streamed concert performances at the Opéra de Lyon which was aired by France 3.
