FRÉDERIC CHASLIN | DON PASQUALE | VIENNA

On May 17, 2023, Frédéric Chaslin returns to the Vienna State Opera conducting Don Pasquale, in a production by Irina Brook, leading a cast that includes Michele Pertusi in the title role, Brenda Rae as Norina, Josh Lovell as Ernesto and Michael Arivony as Dottor Malatesta. There will be three additional performances on May 20, 23, and 26.

The Parisian conductor has been enjoying a long and fecund collaboration with the Vienna State Opera, having made his company debut in 1997 with I puritani and conducted a total of 24 operas, in addition to several concerts. He last appeared leading Massenet’s Manon in 2020 just before the first lockdown. The May 23 performance of Don Pasquale, which he had already conducted locally in 2016 and 2018, marks his 200th appearance with the Vienna State Opera.

Frédéric Chaslin’s upcoming engagements include a concert at the Teatro Comunale Bologna where he will conduct Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 as well as one of his own compositions, “Theme and Variations on a theme of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 for trombone and orchestra”.
