GABRIELA SCHERER | DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE | BERLIN

Big role debut for Gabriela Scherer, who, on Christmas Day, adds the part of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte to her repertoire at the Staatsoper Berlin, in an August Everding production led by Giuseppe Mentuccia. She will share the stage with Siyabonga Maqungo as Tamino, Friedrich Hamel as Sarastro, Regina Koncz as Queen of the Night,  and Roman Trekel as Papageno in the other leading roles. Additional performances will occur on December 29 and January 4, 2025.

While a member of the Zurich Opera Studio, the Swiss soprano won a prize at the Mozart International Competition. Her other Mozart roles include Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, which she debuted last spring at the Staatsoper Berlin.

The other roles she sang for this prestigious opera company include the title role of  Ariadne auf Naxos and Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo.
