Major debut for Gabriela Scherer, who, on August 2, 2024, will bow for the first time at the Bayreuth Festival as Gutrune in Götterdämmerung, in a production by Valentin Schwarz and under the musical direction of Simone Young. Catherine Foster will join her as Brünnhilde, Klaus Florian Vogt as Siegfried, Michael Kupfer-Radecky as Gunter, Olafur Sigurdarson as Alberich, Mika Kares as Hagen, and Christa Mayer as Waltraute in the other leading roles. There will be an additional performance on August 25.

The Swiss soprano is not new to Wagner, having been highly praised as Elsa in Lohengrin and as Senta in several productions of Der fliegende Holländer.
