On February 20, 22 and 24, 2024, George Gagnidze will bring his wildly celebrated portrayal of Scarpia in Tosca, to the inauguration of the 2024 season of the Amigos Canarios de la Ópera (Opera de las Palmas), in a production by Daniele Piscopo and under the musical direction of Ramón Tebar.  He will sing alongside Erika Grimaldi in the eponymous role, Piotr Beczala as Cavaradossi, George Gagnidze as Scarpia, Max Hochmuth as Angelotti, David Barrera as the Sacristan, Isaac Galán as Spoletta, Fernando Campero as Sciarrone and Marina Díaz as the Shepherd.

“Long applauded, especially in his outstanding aria «Pietà, rispetto, amore.”, (Ópera Actual): such was one of the several laudatory reviews George Gagnidze received on the occasion of his Las Palmas debut in the title role of Macbeth.

Scarpia in Tosca has long been one of his signature parts, with which he has been feted in the most prestigious opera houses and festivals around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Teatro San Carlo Naples, Staatsoper Berlin, and Wiener Staatsoper.
