On October 27, 2017, Irina Lungu will make her debut at the historical Estates Theatre in Prague as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni under the musical direction of Maestro Plácido Domingo, in a production conceived as a replica of the legendary staging by the National Theatre Opera from 1969, which was the work of set designer Josef Svoboda and costume designer Teodor Pištěk. The event will be repeated on October 29, 2017. She will share the stage with Simone Alberghini in the title role, Adrian Sampetrean as Leporello, Dmitry Korchak as Don Ottavio, Kateřina Knĕžíková as Donna Elvira, Jan Šťáva as the Commendatore, Jiří Brückler as Masetto and Julia Novikova as Zerlina.
The Russian soprano made her role debut as Donna Anna at the Arena of Verona in 2015, having also sung it at the Vienna State Opera for two consecutive seasons and at the Festival Internacional Santander.
After this Prague Don Giovanni, Irina Lungu’s 2017/2018 calendar includes Violetta in La traviata at the Teatro Bolshoi Moscow and at the New National Theatre Tokyo, her debut as Manon in Massenet’s opera at the ABAO Bilbao, Les Cloches di Rachmaninov at the Philharmonie de Paris, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Den Norske Opera Oslo, the title role in Anna Bolena at the Teatro Filarmonico Verona and Gilda in Rigoletto at the Los Angeles Opera.
