On September 20, 2018 Irina Lungu will sing the role of Marguerite in Faust at the Teatro Real Madrid, in a new production by Àlex Ollé (La fura dels Baus) and under the musical direction by Maestro Dan Ettinger, the first of a series of six performances running through October 6, 2018. She will share the stage with Ismael Jordi in the title role, Erwin Schrott and Adam Palka as Méphistophélès, John Chest as Valentin and Annalisa Stroppa as Siébel.

The Russian soprano made her highly acclaimed Teatro Real debut in the 2014/15 season as Violetta in La traviata.

After this Madrid Faust, Irina Lungu’s 2018/2019 season includes the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor at Ópera de Tenerife, Marguerite in Faust at the Royal Opera House London, her role debut as Elettra in Idomeneo, re di Creta at the Vienna State Opera, Violetta in La traviata at the Hamburg State Opera, and Norina in Don Pasquale at the Vienna State Opera.
