IRINA LUNGU AS TRAVIATA AT WIENER STAATSOPER

On September 4, Irina Lungu will open the 2019/20 season of the Wiener Staatsoper in the title role of La traviata. There will be a total of three performances on September 4, 7 and 10, with the September 7 show being broadcast as part of the Wiener Staatoper’s live video streaming service. The stellar cast will also feature Charles Castronovo as Alfredo Germont and Thomas Hampson as Giorgio Germont. Giampaolo Bisanti will conduct. In the same staging by Jean-François Sivadier, Irina Lungu made her highly acclaimed Wiener Staatsoper debut in the 2015/16 season and subsequently reprised the role of Violetta in the 2017/18 season.

Following this Traviata in Vienna, the Russian soprano will return to the Royal Opera House Muscat as Mimì in a new Jean-Louis Grinda staging of La bohème, a role she will later perform in the same production at the Monte-Carlo Opera. She will also reprise the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at Wiener Staatsoper and will return to the Sydney Opera House as Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims and Marguerite in Faust.
