JACQUELYN WAGNER | DER ROSENKAVALIER | VIENNA

On October 31, 2021, Jacquelyn Wagner will sing the role of the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, in a new production by Josef Ernst Köpplinger and under the musical direction of Maestro Hans Graf, the first of a series of seven performances running through November 20, 2021. She will share the stage with Emma Sventelius in the title role, Laren Urquhart as Sophie, Stefan Cerny as Baron Ochs, Morten Frank Larsen as Faninal.

This production marks the first time that Strauss’ immortal masterpiece has ever been staged at the Volksoper in Vienna.

The Michigan born soprano is considered one of today’s finest Strauss sopranos, having caused a stir in the title role of Arabella among others at the Dutch National Opera and most recently at the Opernhaus Zürich. In February 2022, she will make her title role debut as Salome in a new staging at the Landestheater Innsbruck.
