KATRIN WUNDSAM | RUSALKA | WIESBADEN

On January 21, 2023, Katrin Wundsam will sing the double role of Ježibaba and the Foreign Princess in Rusalka at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, in a new production by Olesya Golovneva and Daniela Kerck and under the musical direction of Philipp Pointner. She will sing alongside Olesya Golovneva in her dual task as stage director and interpreter of the title role (in which she alternates with Elena Bezgodkova), Gerard Schneider as the Prince, Derrick Ballard as Vodnik, Christopher Bolduc as The Gamekeepr/Hunter, Stella An as Turnspit/Kitchen Boy, Donata-Alexandra Koch as First Wood Sprite, Nora Kazemieh as Second Wood Sprite, Sarah Mehnert as Third Wood Sprite and Sasha Schicht as Spratek.

The Austrian mezzo-soprano, who has already performed the role of the Foreign Princess at the Köln Opera, is at her debut as Ježibaba. After such an impressive and infrequent double assignment, she makes her role debut as Magdalene in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Tokyo Spring Festival, sings the Garderobiere / Gymnasiast in Lulu at the Wiener Festwochen and performs Mozart’s Requiem at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
