María José Siri makes her debut in the Italian version of Don Carlo in Valencia

On December 9, 2017 Maria José Siri will sing the role of Elisabetta di Valois in a staging of Don Carlo by Marco Arturo Marelli at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, under the musical direction of Maestro Ramón Tebar. She will share the stage with Andrea Carè as the protagonist, Plácido Domingo as Rodrigo di Posa, Alexander Vinogradov as Filippo II, Violeta Urmana as Eboli and Marco Spotti as the Great Inquisitor, singing two additional performances on December 15 and 21, 2017.

The Uruguayan born soprano is making her debut in the Italian four act version of the Verdi masterpiece, having already sung the French original setting of the score for the inauguration of the 2015/2016 season of ABAO Bilbao.

In addition to this Don Carlo in Valencia, this season Maria José Siri will reprise the role at the Teatro Comunale Bologna; other engagements on her 2017/2018 calendar include the title role of Madama Butterfly at the Vienna State Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Hamburg State Opera, a new production of Francesca da Rimini and Messa per Rossini at the Teatro alla Scala, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, Leonora in Il trovatore at the Vienna State Opera, and a gala concert at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
