On December 1, 2018 Mariangela Sicilia will make her double debut in the role of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia of Valencia in the premiere of Graham Vick’s staging of Mozart’s masterpiece conducted by Lothar Koenigs. There will be six performances running through December 15.

“It is always fantastic to discover the point of view of a great stage director like Graham Vick and to bring a soul on stage, not only a character.”, states the Italian soprano. “Taking on a role in German was a new challenge for me: I took as much as possible from a conductor who knows this repertoire so well like Lothar Koenigs. He is so careful with the words and the details of this score.”

After this engagement in Valencia Mariangela Sicilia will sing Mozart’s Requiem at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome conducted by Antonio Pappano, Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice at the Rome Opera House, Liù in Turandot and La traviata at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, and Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims in Sydney and Beijing.
