Mark S. Doss reprises one of his signature roles, Jochanaan in Salome, with the Houston Symphony for two performances on June 7 and 9, 2024, under the musical direction of Juraj Valčuha, and singing alongside Jennifer Holloway in the title role, John Daszak as Herodes, Linda Watson as Herodias, and Issachah Savage as Narraboth in the other leading roles.

The American bass-baritone has often indicated Jochanaan as one of his very favorite parts, having sung it in numerous international venues such as Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Comunale Bologna, and Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
