MICHAEL VOLLE | DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER | HAMBURG

On December 10, 2023, Michael Volle will sing the title role in Der fliegende Holländer at the Hamburg State Opera in a production by Michael Thalheimer led by Adam Fischer. He will share the stage with Gabriela Scherer as Senta, Eric Cutler as Eric, Franz-Josef Selig as Daland, Katja Pieweck as Mary, and Daniel Kluge as Der Steuermann. Two additional performances will take place on December 12 and 15.

The German baritone, who last triumphed at the Hamburg State Opera as Wolfram von Eschenbach in Tannhäuser, is one of the most lauded interpreters of the role of the nameless Dutchman on the international scene, having performed it on the most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, in a new production at the Staatsoper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, the Zurich Opera, not to mention the Bayreuth Festival.

Following the performances in Hamburg, he will sing the part at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and at the Bayreuth Festival.
