Saimir Pirgu as Alfredo in La traviata at the Teatro Colon

On September 12, 2017 Saimir Pirgu will sing Alfredo in the opening night of a Franco Zeffirelli production of La traviata at the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires. Alongside him, Ermonela Jaho will sing the title role and Fabián Veloz that of Giorgio Germont. Maestro Evelino Pidò will conduct. It will be the first of four performances running through September 19, 2017.

Alfredo is one of Saimir Pirgu’s most performed roles and has led him to the Vienna Staatsoper, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Staatsoper Berlin.

After this Buenos Aires Traviata, his 2017/2018 season includes two consecutive new roles debuts, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Zurich Opera, as well as the reprise of old favorites such as Roméo in Romeo et Juliette at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at the New National Theatre Tokyo, Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto at the Bavarian State Opera Munich and the soloist tenor part in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Halle aux Grains Toulouse.
