SAIMIR PIRGU AS TENOR SOLOIST IN MOZART REQUIEM WITH RICCARDO MUTI AND THE CSO IN CHICAGO

This evening, Saimir Pirgu returns to the Chicago Symphony Center as the tenor soloist in the Mozart Requiem. He will be joined by fellow soloists Benedetta Torre, Sara Mingardo, and Mika Kares, as well as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Choir. Riccardo Muti will conduct. There will be additional performances on February 22 and 23, 2019.

Pirgu enjoys a long history of Mozart Requiems with Mr. Muti, having performed it with the Maestro several times. Beyond this work, Pirgu has appeared with Mr. Muti in a broad range of repertoire at venues all around the world. These include a highly acclaimed Verdi Requiem at the 2014 Salzburg Festival, Berlioz’s Missa Solenelle at the Musikverien in Vienna, I Due Figaro in Buenos Aires, as well as the Bach Mass in B Minor and a concert performance of Verid’s Falstaff in Chicago, among others.

Notable concert and symphonic engagements from 2018 include a Verdi Reqiuem in Turin lead by Maestro James Conlon and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in Naples with Maestro Zubin Mehta. Further past collaborations include performances with such conductors as Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Barenboim, and Daniele Gatti.
