SAIMIR PIRGU IN LA DAMNATION DE FAUST IN BIRMINGHAM

On June 26, 2019 Saimir Pirgu will sing the title role in Berlioz’s La damnation de Faust with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. The evening will be conducted by Edward Gardner, and will also feature soloists Christine Rice, Joshua Bloom, and Božidar Smiljanić.

Pirgu was last heard as Faust at the Musikverein in Vienna, appearing with the Wiener Symphoniker and conductor Philippe Jordan. He made his debut in the role in 2016 at the Bolshoi Theater.

Following this performance of La damnation de Faust, Pirgu’s upcoming engagements include Alfredo (La traviata) at the Greek National Opera before beginning next season with Rodolfo (La bohème) at the Los Angeles Opera, followed by Don José (Carmen) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and making his debut as the title role in Faust at Opera Australia.
