Saimir Pirgu in L’elisir d’amore in Tokyo

On March 14, 2018 Saimir Pirgu will sing Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore at the New National Theatre Tokyo, in a production by Cesare Lievi under the musical production of Frédéric Chaslin, the first of a series of four performances running through March 21, 2018. He will share the stage with Lucrezia Drei as Adina, Toru Onuma as Belcore and Renato Girolami as Dulcamara.

Saimir Pirgu made his debut as Nemorino very early in his career, in 2003 in his native Albania; one year later he reprised it at the Vienna State Opera, an acclaimed interpretation that earned him the prestigious “Eberhard Wächter Gesangsmedaille” award.

After this Tokyo run of L’elisir d’amore, Saimir Pirgu’s upcoming engagements for the 2017/18 season and beyond include Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, the Teatro San Carlo Naples, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris and with the Philharmonie Luxembourg, Alfredo in La traviata at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris, the title role in Werther at the New National Theatre Tokyo, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Halle aux Grains Toulouse, Beethoven’s IX Symphony at the Teatro Carlo Naples, a gala concert with Angela Gheorghiu at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and a concert tour to Thailand conducted by Zubin Mehta.
