On January 24, 2019 Sonya Yoncheva will reprise the title role of Iolanta in her first performances of the role at the Metropolitan Opera.

Sonya made her triumphant debut in the part in 2016 at the Opéra National in Paris, causing the New York Times to laude her extraordinary Iolanta and her “clear and focused” voice (Zachary Woolfe).In New York Tchaikovsky’s one-act-opera will be coupled with Bartók’s “Bluebeard’s Castle”. Henrik Nánási will conduct Mariusz Trelinski’s staging. Performances on January 24 & 28, February 1, 4, 9, 14, 2019.
