On August 7 and 19, 2021, Sonya Yoncheva will return to the Arena of Verona as Violetta in La traviata. This marks the Arena operatic debut for the Bulgarian soprano, whose past appearances at the famed Italian amphitheater have included the gala performance “Opera in Love” in 2020 and a 2013 Verdi Gala. She will star in a new production by Michele Olcese and under the musical direction of Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa, singing alongside Vittorio Grigolo as Alfredo and George Petean as Germont. ZDF/3Sat will film the August 19 performance which will be telecast on September 5 at 22:15h on ZDF and on September 11 at 20:15h on 3sat.
