On June 18, 2019 Sonya Yoncheva will sing a concert of arias and duets at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie Puccini Gala, making her Liège debut. Francesco Ivan Ciampa will conduct the evening, and tenor Marin Yonchev will join Ms. Yoncheva as a soloist.
Ms. Yoncheva’s program will draw from roles she has sung at such opera houses as the Metropolitan Opera, the Staatsoper Unter den, and the Paris Opera , as well as from the music of other beloved Puccini heroines. It will include “Donde lieta uscì”, “Sì, mi chiamano Mimì” and the act 1 duet with Rodolfo (Marin Yonchev) from La bohème, “In quelle trine morbide” from Manon Lescaut, “Se come voi piccina” from Le villi, “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi, “Libiamo” from La traviata with Marin Yonchev and “Un bel dì vedremo” from Madama Butterfly.
Following this gala performance, Ms. Yoncheva’s further concert engagements include the Rolex Ambassador’s Gala at the Teatro alla Scala later this month, as well as a further gala with the Teatro alla Scala at the Savonlinna Opera Festival later this month.
