On December 14, 2018 Sonya Yoncheva will reprise the role of Desdemona in Bartlett Sher’s production of Otello at the Metropolitan Opera. Sonya will sing a total of six performances running through January 10, 2019. Gustavo Dudamel will conduct, the other parts will be sung by Carl Tanner / Stuart Skelton, Zeljko Lucic, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Alexey Dolgov, Chad Shelton, James Morris, Jeff Mattsey and Kidon Choi.

The production premiered three years ago and opened the 2015/16 season of the Metropolitan Opera starring Sonya Yoncheva as Desdemona. Later this season Sonya will sing the role in a new production at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden with the Berlin Philharmonics. She will also sing two concert performances of Otello at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall in April 2019.
