On December 30, 2023, Sonya Yoncheva concludes her musical year by bringing – with some modifications – her much-traveled and constantly enthusiastically greeted recital “Ad una Stella” at the Gstaad New Year Music Festival, accompanied, like always before, by pianist Malcolm Martineau.

The Bulgarian soprano has in the past few years toured the world with this exciting program, which this time includes music by Dowland, Gibbons, Monteverdi, Handel, Purcell, Rameau, in addition to the customary Verdi, Puccini and Tosti art songs that form its centerpiece

International audiences that have already warmly greeted this program include those of New York, Madrid, Paris, Perelada and Toulouse, to name but a few. Just weeks ago, for her “Ad una stella” Berlin recital, the Tagesspiegel wrote: “and with the opening note of Giacomo Puccini’s “Sole e amore”, this voice is completely there, in all its fullness and splendor, fiery, organically and confidently formed, it is a force and a pure pleasure to listen to.”
