On August 25, 2023, Sonya Yoncheva makes her Gstaad Festival debut as Tosca in a semi-staged performance conducted by Domingo Hindoyan and singing alongside Riccardo Massi as Mario Cavaradossi and Erwin Schrott as Scarpia. There will be a repeat show on August 27 at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

“During “Vissi d’arte” she shows the vulnerability of someone who is driven into the corner and sings enchantingly beautiful.”, thus wrote the Kurier on the occasion of Sonya Yoncheva’s Tosca in Vienna, a triumph she also experienced in New York, Munich, Berlin, Zurich and just very recently in Verona.

Next season, the Bulgarian soprano is slated to portray the jealous, ill-fated Roman diva in Tokyo, Yokohama, Munich, and London.
