On June 23, 2023, Ètienne Dupuis will sing the role of Zurga in Les Pêcheurs de Perles at the Zurich Opera, in a production by Jens-Daniel Herzog and under the musical direction of Nicholas Carter. He will share the stage with Ekaterina Bakanova as Léïla, Javier Camarena as Nadir, and Hubert Kowalczyk as Nourabad. There will be five additional performances through July 9, 2023.

The Quebecois baritone acknowledges Zurga as one of his breakthrough roles when he interpreted it in concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2011. He also sang staged performances of Les pêcheurs de perles at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg in 2013, as well as the Zurich Opera, and recorded the famous tenor-baritone duet on Joseph Calleja’s latest solo album.
