George Gagnidze as Amonasro in Aida in Madrid

On March 7, 2018 George Gagnidze will return to the Teatro Real Madrid as Amonasro in Aida, in a production by Hugo De Ana conducted by Nicola Luisotti, the first of a series of eight performances running through March 24, 2018. He will share the stage with Liudmyla Monastyrska / Anna Pirozzi alternating in the title role, Gregory Kunde / Alfred Kim as Radamès, Violeta Urmana / Ekaterina Semenchuk as Amneris, Roberto Tagliavini / Rafal Siwek as Ramfis and Soloman Howard as Il Re.

After having performed Scarpia in Tosca and the title role of Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Real in past seasons, George Gagnize is now returning to Madrid with one of his favorite roles, Amonasro, a role he has previously performed at many of the world’s most prestigious opera stages such as the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Teatro alla Scala Milan, the Opéra National Paris and the San Francisco Opera.

After this Aida in Madrid, upcoming and future engagements for George Gagnidze include Aida at the Teatro alla Scala, his role debut as Barnaba in La Gioconda at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Iago in Otello at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Michele in Il tabarro and title role in Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera, Germont in La traviata and Iago in Otello at the Opéra National Paris.
