On May 14, 2021, George Gagnidze will sing the role of Germont in La traviata at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, in a semi-staged production conducted by Maestro Karel Mark Chicon, the first of a series of seven performances running through May 23, 2021. He will sing alongside Aleksandra Kurzak / Ailyn Pérez as Violetta, Piero Piero Pretti / Ivan Magrì as Alfredo. The Georgian baritone, already well-known by the San Carlo audience for his performances as Scarpia in Tosca and Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana, has interpreted Germont in La traviata in many of the major international opera companies and festivals, including the Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera House Covent Garde, the Opéra National de Paris, the Grand Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and the Arena of Verona.
