GEORGE GAGNIDZE | TOSCA | METROPOLITAN OPERA

George Gagnidze returns to the Metropolitan Opera in one of his signature roles, Scarpia in Tosca. The dramatic baritone appears in two runs in December 2021 and January 2022. Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met’s Music Director, conducts the series in December, with Sondra Radvanovsky and Brian Jagde in the other leading roles. The run in January is led by Carlo Rizzi and Elena Stikhina sings the title role, while Joseph Calleja appears as Cavaradossi.

For of the performances are being broadcast: the December 2, January 14 and 26 shows as part of the Met’s Free Live Audio Streams, while the one on December 11 is part of the prestigious Saturday Matinee Broadcast Series and is being transmitted by radio stations worldwide.

Since his 2009 Met debut, George Gagnidze has sung more than 25 performances in the role of Scarpia at Lincoln Center, including the premiere of the previous Luc Bondy staging in the 2009/10 season and two Live in HD broadcasts.
