On July 22 and 24, 2022, George Gagnidze will sing the role of Germont in La traviata at the Teatro San Carlo of Napoli, in a production by Ferzan Özpetek and under the musical direction of Francesco Ivan Ciampa. He will share the stage with Pretty Yende alternating with Claudia Pavone in the title role and Francesco Demuro as Alfredo Germont.

The Georgian baritone has already appeared at the Teatro San Carlo this April as Scarpia in Tosca, a role he also performed in Napoli in 2020. At the Teatro San Carlo, he also sang Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana in 2019 as well as Germont last year.

He has long made a specialty of Germont père, having performed it in many prestigious opera houses and festivals such as Teatro alla Scala Milan, Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, Opéra National de Paris, Liceu Barcelona, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Arena di Verona.
