On July 6, 2022, George Gagnidze will sing the title role of Nabucco at the Teatro Real Madrid, in a production by Andreas Homoki and under the musical direction of Maestro Nicola Luisotti, the first of a series of six performances running through July 19, 2022.

He will sing alongside Saioa Hernández as Abigaille, Roberto Tagliavini / Alexander Vinogradov alternating as Zaccaria, Michael Fabiano / Eduardo Aladrén as Ismaele and Elena Maximova as Fenena.

Nabucco is a role George Gagnidze has performed at many of the world’s most prestigious opera stages such as the Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hamburg and the Chorégies d’Orange. His 2017 appearance in the role in a new production at the Arena di Verona is available on DVD/Blu-Ray.

The Georgian baritone is returning to the Teatro Real after having sung the title role in Simon Boccanegra, Scarpia in Tosca and Amonasro in Aida in previous seasons.
