Tonight, Feburary 16, 2019, Irina Lungu makes her role debut as Elettra at the Vienna State Opera in the season premier of Idomeneo. Staging will be by Kasper Holten and Tomáš Netopil will conduct.

Elettra will be Ms. Lungu’s third Mozart role: she already performs regularly as Fiordiligi (Cosí fan Tutte) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), the latter of which she debuted in Franco Zeffirelli’s 2015 staging at the Arena di Verona.

Idomeneo will be Ms. Lungu’s fifth production at the Vienna State Opera. She made her house debut as Violetta in 2015 in Jean-Francois Sivadier’s staging of La Traviata, conducted by Michael Schönwandt, and reprised the role there in 2017, conducted by Marc Armiliato. She has also appeared at the Vienna State Opera as Donna Anna in the Jean-Louis Martinoty staging of Don Giovanni during the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons, conducted respectively by Sascha Goetzel and Adam Fischer.
