Michael Volle will sing three performances of one of his signature roles, the nameless Flying Dutchman, at the Semperoper Dresden on August 29, September 1, and 20, 2024, in a Florentine Klepper production and under the musical direction of Axel Kober, sharing the stage with Jennifer Holloway as Senta, Georg Zeppenfelf as Daland, Tomislav Mužek as Erik, Christa Mayer as Mary, and Mario Lerchenberger as Der Steuermann.
Michael Volle, who has already appeared as Wotan and Orest in Elektra at the Semperoper Dresden, has long been one of the most sought-after interpreters of Wagner’s early masterpiece, having performed it on the most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, in a new production at the Staatsoper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Zurich Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, not to mention the Bayreuth Festival.
