MICHAEL VOLLE | DIE LUSTIGE WITVE | ZURICH

Change of pace for Michael Volle, who – amidst so many tragic heroes, anti-heroes and villains – is eager to highlight his brilliant and coruscating side as Count Danilo Danilowitsch in Die lustige Witwe at the Zurich Opera, in a new Barry Kosky production premiering on February 11, 2024, under the musical direction of Patrick Hahn. He will share the stage with Marlis Petersen as Hanna Glawari, Katharina Konradi as Valencienne, Andrew Owens as Camille de Rosillon, Martin Winkler as Baron Zeta in the main roles. There will be eleven additional performances through March 14.

In the midst of this run of Die lustige Witwe, the German baritone flies to Barcelona, where, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, he will perform a drastically different type of repertoire, Franz Schubert’s song-cycle Winterreise.
