On July 7, 2021 Sonya Yoncheva will sing the role of Stephana in Umberto Giordano’s rare gem Siberia at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, in a new production by Roberto Andò and under the musical direction of Maestro Gianandrea Noseda, the first of a series of four performances running through July 16. She will sing alongside Giorgi Sturua asVassili, George Petean as Gléby, Caterina Piva as Nikona and Giorgio Misseri as Prince Alexis. The Bulgarian soprano, who made her role debut as Stephana in concert at the 2017 Festival Radio France in Montpellier, will reprise it next year in Madrid. In 2020 she sang Violetta in La traviata in the cavea of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
