Etienne Dupuis returns to Australia, performing with Opera Australia in Melbourne for two Verdi Gala concerts on April 30 and May 3. He will share the stage with his wife and frequent stage partner, Melbourne native soprano Nicole Car. The program will feature some of the most stirring and iconic arias and duets by the Busseto-born composer.
In recent years, the Québécois baritone has increasingly expanded his Verdi repertoire to great acclaim. In addition to his earlier roles, such as Rodrigo di Posa in Don Carlo and Germont in La traviata, he has recently triumphed in leading Verdi roles, including Rigoletto, Macbeth, Conte di Luna in Il trovatore, and Don Carlo di Vargas in La forza del destino at the most prestigious international opera houses.

Australian opera superstar Nicole Car is celebrated across the world for her golden, honey-hued voice and magnetic stage presence. She returns to her hometown with French-Canadian baritone Étienne Dupuis, Nicole’s husband and an opera superstar in his own right, leading a fabulous cast of singers.

With Orchestra Victoria out of the pit, and on the stage of Hamer Hall, you’ll hear every rich detail in Verdi’s luscious orchestrations and feel the force of his unforgettable melodies.
