On February 27, 2018 Maria Mudryak will sing Violetta in a new production of La traviata staged by Lorenzo Amato and under the musical direction of Maestro Daniel Oren, the first of a series of four performances running through March 4, 2018. She will share the stage with Vincenzo Costanzo as Alfredo and Vladimir Stoyanov as Giorgio Germont.
“Violetta is my very favorite role, both from a vocal and an interpretative point of view.”, states the Kazakh born Italian naturalised soprano. “I feel it deep inside my soul: I view her as a strong and intelligent woman, who as a matter of fact was able to secure a place in high society at a very young age; but at the same time she is very vulnerable, so much that she sacrifices everything for the man she loves. I believe I can understand her tragedy, because I am also 23, the age of Marie Duplessis, the young woman who was the inspiration for the character of Violetta, at the time of her death – and share her love for life.”
Maria Mudryak sang her first Violetta, which has quickly become her signature role, during the 2016 summer season of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where she reprised it in the 2017/2018 season, having also interpreted it at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa and Astana Opera, receiving abundant accolades on all occasions.
After this Naples Traviata, Maria Mudryak’s upcoming engagements include Gilda in Rigoletto and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Massimo Palermo.
