ETIENNE DUPUIS IN VERDI GALA AT DEUTSCHE OPER BERLIN

On September 12 and 13, 2020, Etienne Dupuis will take part in Verdi Gala Concerts at the Deutsche Oper Berlin under the baton of Maestro Roberto Rizzi Brignoli. Sharing the stage with soprano Saioa Hernández, mezzo-soprano Irene Roberts, tenors Patrick Cook and Robert Watson and basses Marko Mimica and Byung Gil Kim, Etienne Dupuis will sing “Dio di Giuda” from Nabucco, Rodrigo di Posa’s death scene “O Carlo, ascolta … Io morrò” from Don Carlo, the first act duet “Fatal mia donna! Un murmure…” from Macbeth, “Alzati! … Eri tu” from Un ballo in maschera, and the duet between Don Carlo and Rodrigo di Posa Dio, che nell’alma infondere”.

The Canadian baritone has been enjoying a long and fruitful collaboration with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, having already been applauded as Eugene Onegin, Pelléas, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Marcello in La bohème, Silvio in Pagliacci, Zurga in Les pêcheurs de perles and Valentin in Faust, among other roles. This year, he was scheduled to appear at Deutsche Oper Berlin as Athanaël in Thaïs and in his role debut as Don Carlo in La forza del destino, but both engagements had to be cancelled to due the Covid19 pandemic.

Etienne Dupuis has been constantly expanding his Verdi repertoire in the last few years, adding roles such as Rodrigo di Posa in Don Carlo, Germont in La traviata and Renato in Un ballo in maschera, all of which he has first sung at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
