On December 10, 2023, Gabriela Scherer will make her Hamburg State Opera debut as Senta in Der fliegende Holländer, in a Michael Thalheimer production and under the musical direction of Adam Fischer. She will sing alongside Michael Volle in the title role, Eric Cutler as Erik, Franz-Josef Selig as Daland, Katja Pieweck as Mary, and Daniel Kluge as Der Steuermann. There will be two additional performances on December 12 and 15. Senta has become a signature role for the Swiss soprano, having sung it just last season in two new productions, one at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the other at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon.
