George Gagnidze | Aida | Los Angeles

From May 21 to June 12, George Gagnidze will reprise one of his most performed roles at the Los Angeles Opera, Amonasro in Verdi’s Aida. He will sing six performances in the part, reprising Francesca Zambello’s production which he opened in 2016 at the San Francisco Opera. At the LA Opera, James Conlon will conduct and the cast will also include Latonia Moore, Melody Moore, Russell Thomas, Morris Robinson, Alaysha Fox, Peixin Chen and Anthony Ciaramitaro.

George Gagnidze has sung the role of Amonasro in numerous performances at the Metropolitan Opera, in two differenct stagings at the Teatro alla Scala; at the the Paris Opéra National, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the San Francisco Opera and the Teatro Real of Madrid.

He returns to Los Angeles following his 2010 LA Opera debut as Rigoletto, where he has also sung Tonio in Pagliacci. At the Hollywood Bowl, George Gagnidze appeared as Iago in Verdi’s Otello with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2018.
