GEORGE GAGNIDZE AS IAGO IN BERLIN

On June 8, 2019 George Gagnidze will return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Iago in Otello, in a production directed by Andreas Kriegenburg with Paolo Arrivabeni conducting. There will be two further performances, on June 14 and June 20. The cast will also include Russell Thomas in the title role, Guanqun Yu as Desdemona, and Attilio Glaser as Cassio, among others.

Most recently praised for his performances as Iago at the Opéra Bastille earlier this season, Gagnidze has previously sung the role with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the 2018 Hollywood Bowl. He has also appeared as Iago at the Greek National Opera in Athens and at the Staatsoper Hamburg and will reprise it next season for his debut at the Washington National Opera and in a gala performance in Mannheim.

Other future engagements following this Otello include Cavalleria Rusticana (Alfio) at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Nabucco at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Tosca (Scarpia) at the Metropolitan Opera.
