GEORGE GAGNIDZE AS NABUCCO IN BERLIN

On September 29 and October 02, 2019 George Gagnidze will return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin to star in the title role of Nabucco in a Keith Warner production under the musical direction of Carlo Montanaro. He will share the stage with Maria Guleghina as Abigaille, John Relyea as Zaccaria, Annika Schlicht as Fenena and Robert Watson as Ismaele.

George Gagnidze has already sung the role of Nabucco on prestigious stages like the Arena di Verona in a new production in summer 2017 (available on DVD/Blu-Ray), the Wiener Staatsoper, the Teatro Massimo Palermo and at the Chorégies d’Orange Festival. This is his third Verdi role at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he appeared as Rigoletto in 2016 and as Iago in Otello earlier this year. Other parts he has performed on this stage include Scarpia in Tosca, Carlo Gérard in Andrea Chénier and Barnaba in La Gioconda.

After this Berlin Nabucco, he will make his Washington National Opera debut as Iago in Otello, a role he will reprise in a gala performance in Mannheim next year. He will also sing Scarpia in Tosca at the Metropolitan Opera and the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. In June, he will return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin for two more performances of Nabucco.
