On November 20, 2018 Irina Lungu will make her debut at the Ópera de Tenerife in the title role of a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor by Nicola Berloffa. Christopher Franklin will conduct, the other main roles will be sung by Celso Albelo (Edgardo), Andrei Kymach (Enrico), Mariano Buccino (Raimondo) and David Astorga (Arturo). There will be two more performances on November 22 and 24.
Lucia di Lammermoor is one of Irina Lungu’s favourite roles which she sang for the first time at the Teatro Filarmonico of Verona in 2014. She subsequently reprised the part in a new staging at the Teatro Comunale of Bologna last year. After this Lucia the Russian soprano will appear at the Korea National Opera in Seoul as Mimì in La bohème, will return to Paris in a Verdi Gala Concert alongside Plácido Domingo, will make her role debut as Elettra in Idomeneo at the Vienna State Opera, will perform Violetta in La traviata at the Staatsoper Hamburg and Marguerite in Faust at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
