On December 19, 2019, Irina Lungu will sing the role of Mimì in La bohème at the Vienna State Opera, in the legendary Franco Zeffirelli production and under the musical direction of Maestro Marco Armiliato, the first of a series of three performances running through December 25, 2018. She will sing alongside Saimir Pirgu as Rodolfo, Marco Caria as Marcello, Mariam Battistelli as Musetta, Samuel Hasselhorn as Schaunard and Ryan Speedo Green as Colline. The December 22, 2019 performance will be live video-streamed on https://www.staatsoperlive.com/.

Later this season, she will perform it at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, and at the Teatro Lirico Cagliari.

The Russian soprano is a frequent and much beloved guest of the Vienna State Opera, having appeared there in several roles including Violetta in La traviata, Norina in Don Pasquale, Elettra in Idomeneo, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, which she will reprise this coming May.
