Irina Lungu returns to the Zürich Opernhaus on September 22, 2023, for a one-off performance as Donna Fiorilla in Il turco in Italia, in a production by Jan Philipp Gloger and under the musical direction of Daniele Squeo. She will share the stage with Nahuel Di Pierro in the title role, Renato Girolami as Don Geronio, Alasdair Kent as Don Narciso, Pietro Spagnoli as Prosdocimo, Rebeca Olvera as Zaida and Raúl Gutiérrez as Alcazar.

The Russian soprano was just feted as Donna Fiorilla earlier this month at her debut at the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, where she received rave reviews. In previous seasons, she had interpreted the coquettish Rossini heroine at the Bayerische Staatsoper and at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa.

Irina Lungu has already appeared at the Opernhaus Zürich as Violetta in La traviata, as Lucia di Lammermoor, as Imogene in Il pirata, and as Alice Ford in Falstaff.
